During
a regular meeting on February 24th, the Board of Selectmen voted to
post all of the Town Roads effective at midnight on Saturday, February
27th.
The posting will be lifted when the Road Commissioner and Board of
Selectmen determine that the roads can be traveled on with full weight
without causing damage.
During
the period of posting, with few
exceptions, any vehicle with a registered gross weight in excess of 23,000
pounds is prohibited from traveling over the Town Roads unless they are
solidly frozen (temperature is below 32 degrees and there is no standing
water in the cracks) or the vehicle is empty.
As per the “Posted Roads” Ordinance -
exemptions may be requested on a case by case basis and may only be
approved by the Board of Selectmen at their Wednesday
night meetings.
Heating Fuel Companies are asked to make deliveries on Route 209 before
driving on Town Roads to decrease any possible damage.
